SPECIAL CELEBRATION IN MY COUNTRY

QUINCE AÑOS

Quince años is a celebration when the girls are 15 years old. The celebration consist of a big party where the girl is introduced to the society of the place she is living.  This celebration is special to me because I celebrate my 15 years old and until now is my biggest party I have ever had.

The tradition comes from the first ancients and the meaning is about entering womanhood

The celebration begins in the church where the quinceañera says thanks to God to be 15 years old. The traditional clothes that she wears is a fancy unique long dress trying to be different to all the other people.

The party begins when the quinceañera enters to the party hall. She walks completely around the dance floor before she sits down. When she is sit  in her chair her father introduces her to all the guests. He talks about her qualities and makes a toast.

After the toast everybody eats dinner and after that the quinceañera dances her first dance called vals. Sometimes if the quinceañera wants she could do a different type of dace like ballet or jazz after the first dance. Then the music begins and all guests start dancing.

During the event the quinceañera cuts her birthday cake. She gives souvenirs like bracelets, stamps or keychain  to the guests and around 3am there is a late meal and sometimes the mariachi arrives to close the party.

This celebration is not only in Mexico. It takes place in other Latin American countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Dominican Republic.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF RESTAURANTS IN SEATTLE

I want to share with you one of the things that I really enjoy in Seattle, the food. There is a great variety of food in Seattle in different restaurants and I have been in some of them. Since the fancy through the most simple restaurant you could enjoy a great moment  by yourself or with friends. In Mexico we have a lot os restaurants, but every country is different and there are some places that are similar but they are not the same. I`m showing you very few restaurants, but I choose them because I have been there, tried the food and really liked them. I have been in every one one time, except Saffron Grill where I have been twice.

Indigo Kitchen and Ale House
It is located in Lynwood, WA. Its an American Tex-mex Restaurant  known for its great happy hours and flavor food but more for  their steak bites. It´s an attraction for young professionals to get a good variety of food and a refreshing drink. The decoration of the place is very American with big TV´s , a unique bar infront of the entrance, some bar tables, tables and booths. The red color is a characteristic at the restaurant.  Since the entrance you can see red color matching with blue. This kind of restaurant  is knowledge in Mexico like American Restaurant for the colors that they use and the type of food. For me the flavor is better here than in Mexico.

Crazy Taco
This is a funny truck located in Fremont. There aren't tables or chairs in the place, you
just have to ask at the only men who is inside the truck for your tacos and eat them in the place standing up or you can ask to take them home. There are some different types of Mexican tacos like pollo, pastor, asada and carnitas the flavor is good and I like that they put onion and cilantro that’s the typical manner of eat tacos. This kind of truck is not common in Mexico for selling tacos is more common for selling hamburgers, hot dogs and meals. For sell tacos is more frequent to find a small commerce or some kind of tacos are sold by a woman carrying a big basket.
A lot of people go to eat at this truck at 2am, after party or night out at the bars of course.

El Camino
This is a Mexican Restaurant located in Freemont, started in 1996. Since your entrance in the place they are playing Mexican songs, the decoration is Mexican style; it's very colorful with candles on the wood's tables and China paper cut for decoration in the ceiling.  There is a big bar in the right side and a lot of tables. There is a terrace very romantic for a date. They have a great variety of Mexican food as carne asada, ceviche, mole, and other typical Mexican food. This restaurant has an excellent Mexican dessert know as flan. I recommended to try it because is really delicius.  In Mexico, this type of restaurants is known for the decoration and not for the food.

Bizzarro, Italian Cafe
This is an Italian restaurant located in Wallingford. They were featured on the tv show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives which highlights the best food across the US.  The decoration is very unique. There are only tables, with crystal where you can put like a napkin with your name. A lot people love to take photos specially in the bathroom beacause there are some Bizzarras things like a doll and some chairs one on other. The food is great and the service excellent. The tablecloths are squares red and white like most of  the Italian restaurants, every table have a vase with a red flower.  I recommended a lot the lasagna.

Dick´s Drive-In
Dick´s Hamburger Restaurants are located all over Seattle.  The theme of the restaraunt is from the 50´s Drive-Ins.  Their menú is very basic offering hamburgers, french fries and milkshakes. Dick´s is very popular in Seattle with the late night drunk crowd. The hamburgues are just for pick it up, there are no place to eat, just your car or going somewhere else. In Mexico we don't have restaurants like these, for hamburgers exits only Mc Donald's, Burger King and Carl's Jr but the most important is that is not for pick hamburgers up, in Mexico you always have the option to be seated. maybe some coffee shop could be in this way but not food.

Saffron Grill

It is located in Northgate and they serve Indian/Mediterranean Food. The flavors are very strong and delicious.  The decoration is like india, there are a big bar, tables and booths. This is a great place to have dinner with friends or a date.  The staff is very friendly and nice. the owner is always in the entrance taking care of the costumers and of his employees.  I have eaten here twice and always go home full and satisfied beacuse the plates are very big.
